Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies

Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies Tips

Red Ribbon Week is fast approaching and another opportunity to create a series of programs that will impact our students in a positive way. While Red Ribbon Week is focused mainly on the commemoration of the life of fallen DEA agent Kiki Camarena, I believe the week provides and opportunity to leverage into a variety of character-building areas. Why not utilize the week and red ribbon week school assemblies to teach and impact kids on subjects that will help their lives but are not normally taught in day to day education.

Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies are an Important Way to Drive The Messages Home

There is strong data suggesting that the more of our olfactory senses are involved in learning, the better retention and impact. Humans by their very nature, need to touch, feel, see and hear something to give the best chance for learning. We tend to remember those things that stand out in our minds and the learning tools that provide an all-encompassing experience are attached to the desired learning lesson (red ribbon week school assemblies). This is why special red ribbon week school assemblies are so important, and even more important as a way to drive home the Red Ribbon Week messages. Red ribbon week school assemblies energize the kids when talented performers visit their campus, and while their focus isn’t on learning, their attention is fully engaged, and the blend of entertainment and education can provide this overall experience that touches their visual and auditory senses, but also, cultural influences come from their admiration of the performers. In other words, professional performers have a unique ability to teach not just through verbal message, but through presenting adesirable role-model image and creating an aspiration within the child to achieve things greater than he/she previously thought was possible.  Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies

should accomplish a powerful exclamation point to your Red Ribbon Week, sinking the messages deep into the memory and psyche of each child, creating an inspiration to live out the lessons in the real world.

Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies are fun, but can be powerful tools

There are many options in your arsenal when putting together a successful Red Ribbon Week program. Of course the usuals, red ribbons, homemade signage and school banners, teacher lessons, all-red clothes day and more. But when it comes to your Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies

, I encourage you to do your research. The biggest thing to avoid is anything boring. I hate to be so blunt, but kids attention span is well-known to be somewhat short. Your assembly should be exciting, engaging and a kid-favorite. Why? Because even if you sacrifice a little in educational content, your chances at reaching kids grows exponentially the more powerful the images and quitefrankly the “cool” factor inherent in the assembly. So the question is, do we give them a high-content lecture that slips through their distracted minds and may not stick, or give them short but powerful unforgettable messages that are relevant and attached to images and role-models they want to emulate? Of course, a good lecture has its place, but in changing kids lives they need just a spark of inspiration. Even if the inspiration comes from an assembly that is fun and exciting, this inspiration will spread to the more serious subjects. We have all had moments in our lives when inspiration changed our direction. It is usually not a drawn out moment, it is a flash moment, when a light-bulb goes off in our heads and we just get it. It all makes sense, and we get super-charged with energy to go after our goals and dreams with passion. This is what Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies should be about, reaching your kids with inspiration, and giving them the spark they need to commit to excellence.

I recommend that you do your research and find a performer or group that you think will accomplish this at your school this Red Ribbon Week. Your Red Ribbon Week School Assembly will be the centerpiece of your celebration that your students will take with them for life. When making your choice be sure you are working with an experienced and legitimate company with excellent service. If you choose correctly, you will have an amazing experience and your students will have the best Red Ribbon Week School Assembly they have ever had. Make this Red Ribbon Week 2011 the best celebration your school has ever had by having special Red Ribbon Week School Assemblies

Red Ribbon Week School Assembly Presentation

It’s almost here!!! The school year is just around the corner and with that comes the first BIG celebration week, Red Ribbon Week in late October. Red Ribbon Week is a week dedicated to creating awareness with kids across the nation to the realities of drugs and encouraging them to make the choice to live drug-free. Most schools adopt a variety of methods to create this awareness including Red Ribbon for kids to wear, classroom lessons, school signage declaring their school a “Drug-Free” zone and of course, special school assemblies. Having an exciting assembly is a great way to give the kids a memory to attach good feelings with Red Ribbon Week and the messages delivered throughout.
I recommend doing a quick Google search to find resources and supplies to decorate your school with signage and other declaratory assets. To maximize your message you need to deliver your campaign with auditory, visual and kinesthetic activities and visuals. The more senses your students have engaged while discussing, learning and absorbing the material the more chances it will stick and make a profound impact. And what is the purpose of Red Ribbon Week? To have a real, quantifiable impact in kids lives!
Lastly, I recommend planning early. We all like to procrastinate, thinking we can pull it all together last minute. But we know how it works, life gets busy, we get distracted and sometime mid-October it dawns on you that nothing is planned. Then it’s panic time! Don’t let this happen to your school year, start the process today, research materials, supplies and school assemblies you’d like to have for your big week.
Your students will learn valuable things throughout their school years, but it’s the special events and “standout” moments they will remember fondly for the rest of their lives. We have all had experiences that stand out and it’s not the day-to-day grind, it is the moments that “wow” us. We remember the friendships, the bonding and the inspiration we build our future around. Give your students a great Red Ribbon Week experience and they will take this important week with them for a lifetime.
